Troubleshooting
When the browser client will not start
Updated 2026-10-29
These are published troubleshooting notes for unofficial Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) projects, not fixes reproduced in a game session. The public NFSMW Online log, MWO HTML and dezm0n instructions were read on 29 October 2026.
Route the symptom
Match the words on your screen to a page. Do not stack every fix at once.
| Symptom | Page |
|---|---|
| WebGPU error, black screen, stuck download | Not loading |
| Is this safe to open? | Safety |
| Are the servers still up? | Status |
Fixes the projects already published
NFSMW Online’s log for 21 October 2026 says safehouse, car lot, and shop loads could go black, and that those loads now show a loading screen. The same day mentions a Safari crash and a mouse-lock fix. 22 October covers iPhone and Android loading. 23 October covers slow downloads on some providers.
dezm0n’s dual-GPU step is specific: quit Chrome completely, then start it with chrome.exe --force_high_performance_gpu. It is a single-project instruction, not a universal fix. MWO public HTML includes loading/progress controls; its linked JavaScript returned 403 in this review, so exact runtime status strings were not reverified.
Questions and answers
The counter stays near 0 percent.
A static page check cannot diagnose a counter. If the connection stops, distinguish page reachability from file-transfer failure. NFSMW Online’s 23 October 2026 note says some internet providers could not reach a new download network and silently used a slow path. Try another network before you reinstall anything.
Where is the safety write-up?
On the safety page. The short version: use the project domains, do not reuse an EA password, and do not run a random “unblocked” installer.
Is there a status page?
NFSMW Online prints updates on the login page. Most Wanted Online does not publish a status page. The status guide collects the public checks from 29 October 2026.
